History
In 1604, King James I authorized and provided the resources to 47 scholars and clergymen to create the King James Version Bible. King James I, did not actually translate any of the text himself.
The translators were divided into six panels, each of which was responsible for translating a specific portion of the Bible.
The translators were instructed to consult with existing English translations, such as the Tyndale Bible, the Geneva Bible, and the Bishops' Bible. They were also to use the original Hebrew and Greek texts of the Bible.
