Successful Life

Often success is confused with happiness. We live in a world of instant gratification via different mediums ranging from electronic devices to sex and drug abuse. The immature person would seek these temporary gratifications, but live an empty unfulfilled life.

To be successful, you need to be able to at least define what "success" is:

Merriam-Webster defines success as a:

"favorable or desired outcome"

It can also be the "attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence". These definitions leave a lot of room for variations among people. Indeed, the research supports that. When researchers ask men and women what their definitions of success are, they get a whole range of answers, and those answers change over time.

This is understandable because God designed us differently. The Sapphire Leadership Group identified 7 Redemptive Gifts of individuals (designs) which each focus on a different purpose in life. For example some would define success as:

All these definitions solve some sort of problem in life. A mature person would apply always ask:

"How can I use my success to make my world a better place for other?"

Immature consumers shy away from responsibility, and they are often take shortcuts to avoid the pain of solving their problems. This usually result in some sort of enslavement, because these people always stay dependent on others instead of contributing to their community. God did not create us to be parasites.

God created mankind to have dominion over His creation, as His representative stewards, to expand His paradise (kingdom) on Earth.

When God created the first humans, he did not place them in an environment without any responsibilities. God assigned specific tasks (Genesis 1:26-28) to the first humans, not to enslave them, but so that they may enjoy the fulfilled in life to achieve success. This is way the land was called "Eden" which means "delight".

Mature believers would seek God in their lives and ask for His will and guidance to fulfil their calling with the opportunities and resources that God gave them.
