Dealing with Failures

There are many possible reasons for failures.

Unanswered prayers

Often God does not answer our prayers, because we are not praying according to His will. Jesus made it clear in Matthew 5 that we should first seek God's Kingdom (will) and pray according to that.

Intersession happen when we listen to what God's will is and claim that. God will take action if we pray according to His will.

Avoiding pain

People with a slave mentality avoid pain at all cost. Pain is part of growth.

People with a leader mentality are problem solvers. Often problems are painful, but this is how we grow.

For example a child that learns to walk will often fall over. This is a painful experience, but in the end it was worth it.

God won't burden you with problems that He knows your abilities.

Nobody is perfect. Everyone is broken in some area of their life. Everyone needs to grow. Life is about the process to learn from mistakes and to grow.

Regardless your life story or goals, you should aim to:

  • grow your relationship with God
  • grow your spiritually in yourself, your mind, your actions
  • grow your knowledge of God's Word, personal witnesses and experiences
  • grow your relationships with people
  • grow your responsibility
  • grow your authority, honour and integrity
  • grow your love, mercy and peace for God, yourself and your community

So that you can:

  • hear God's voice (directions)
  • release people that is trapped in sin
  • be able to mentor others
  • be an example for others by raising the moral standard (values)
  • be a channel of provision
  • can lead in authority, honour and integrity
  • heal a broken world

Performance driven

What you accomplish in life is not important. It is how you achieved your goals that is.

Success cannot be achieved without pain, risk and a price.

You could take shortcuts (cheat, lie, steal, etc.) to reach your goal, but at the end you didn't grow, you have no honour, you have nothing to give, you have no experience to share and therefore have no authority from your accomplishment.

You cannot take your wealth that you had gathered on this Earth to the afterlife. But you can take your experience to the afterlife. This life is a training school. Sometimes we fail the test, but that is how we learn to adjust.

Abuse

Abuse happen. Sometimes circumstances are outside our control. Jesus said we need to forgive our enemies (Matthew 5). This is a very hard thing if not impossible to do, unless you realise that they are not your real enemy. The abuser is also a broken person controlled by a greater enemy. They are simply the tools used by our enemy to hurt us. Your real enemy is the devil who is also God's enemy.

Therefore,

  • You need to forgive them.
  • You need to forgive yourself.
  • You need to repent from whatever sin that might have given the enemy the right to abuse you.
  • You need to pray for healing.
  • You need to following God's guidance, for example whether stay or to run from an abusive relationship and for opportunities and timing.

Depression

Success is about attitude (what you think).

When you think right, your words are right, when your words are right, your actions are right, when your actions are right you will get the right results.

We are not limited by our experiences (failure), but by our thoughts.

-- Larry Huck

  • Make peace with yourself.
  • Start to think right about yourself.
  • Dream, setup goals, plan your life.
  • Look for opportunities and avoid distractions.
  • Rule over the challenges that you may face.
  • Celebrate successful goals, they are the anchors in times when you are down.

Lack of dreams

Success starts with dreams.

Dreams are important and should also be protected. They are your destination to a better future.

Don't allow the enemy to steal your dreams (demotivate you).
